Chloroform Chemical Chloroform, well known for inducing unconsciousness, is a non-flammable, volatile and colorless liquid. It is also known as tricholromethane (TCM) and methyl trichloride and has the chemical formula CHCl3. The chemical is a member of a group of compounds known as trihalomethanes and is largely considered to be hazardous to the environment. Some of the common applications of chloroform are as follows:
